The Tassel

Tassels on Garments

Nu 15:37 The LORD said to Moses,

Nu 15:38 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘Throughout the generations to come you are to make tassels on the corners of your garments, with a blue cord on each tassel.
Nu 15:39 You will have these tassels to look at and so you will remember all the commands of the LORD, that you may obey them and not prostitute yourselves by going after the lusts of your own hearts and eyes.
Nu 15:40 Then you will remember to obey all my commands and will be consecrated to your God.
Nu 15:41 I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the LORD your God.’ ”

As believers in Jesus Christ, we are instructed by God to wear a tassel with a blue cord on our garments. Do you know why? God wants us to love Him, walk in His ways, and keep His commands through the power of His Holy Spirit. And in obeying this request, we choose life, blessings, and prosperity for ourselves and for our children.

God wants us to be conscious of Him in all of our thoughts, words, and actions so that we will not be contaminated by the world system. Our understanding of and obedience to the Tassel command teaches us to keep in step with the Holy Spirit; to say “no” to ungodliness and worldly passions; and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age.

Consider the cost of your life’s journey. Do what God says. Be mature in Christ and keep in step with the Holy Spirit. Wear tassels on the corners of your garment.
